04:37 am - Help please
Hi all,

I'll be more than gratefull if you help me to find the original text/name of a poem - I have found it only in Russian translation, and I have no clue when it was written. To make it worse, I'll try to re-translate it in English, as my knowledge of Spanish is very poor... may be someone will be able to understand what that poem actually was...

Hopeless song

The grasses are interlacing
The rivers are interflowing
But I am scattered by the winds.

Anunciation will enter
The houses of fiances,
And maids will wake up
And embroider their hearts
In green silk

But I am scattered by the winds.

Thanks a lot for any help!

Yours,
Annabel

Song of Despair

The olive trees were rising,
The river was falling.

(Only I went astray on the breeze.)

The parents were waiting
for the Holy Advent,
and the girls were smearing
their hearts with green.

(Only I went astray on the breeze.)

In Spanish (sort of--my computer won't let me use the accent keys, sorry)...

Cancion de la desesperanza

los olivos subian
y el rio bajaba

(solo yo me perdia por los aires.)

Los Padres esperaban
el Santo Advenimiento
y las muchachas pintan
su corazon de verde.

(Solo yo me perdia por los aires.)

...Hope it helped!

Hi k0dachrome,

It actually is!
I have already found a book with parallel text and identified that poem.

Well, Russian translation definitely went astray... :)

If you still need Russian version then here it is:

БЕЗНАДЕЖНАЯ ПЕСНЯ

Сливаются реки,
свиваются травы,

А я
развеян ветрами.

Войдет благовещенье
в дом к обрученным,
и девушки встанут утрами -
и вышьют сердца свои
шелком зеленым.

А я
развеян ветрами.

пер. А.Гелескула

Lorca's "a half of my life", so I'm very happy to meet somebody like me. Good luck for you!

Russian version was a starting point when I went looking for the original. Thank you for sharing :) It's so pity that this community is sort of asleep...

You may join "ru_lorca" in LJ if Russian is not difficult for you. There are some interested in Federico's works and life.
See you!

Well, that's my own translation of the Russian variant, not the professional literary translation from Spanish. Don't overestimate me :)

I like your translation more :) I just don't know spanish. Maybe, the russian variant really "went astray", but it's more perceptible.

This poem is in my profile in russian variant. I think, it describes me well :)
Do you like Marquez? I think, his ""One hundred years of solitude" is the greatest one novel of the 20th century.
